Thanks for visiting Indie Comics Zone — a site designed to help you get published!
This comes up a lot — so we decided to put together a quick how-to guide, giving you the steps getting your project on Indie Comics Zone! The following is a step-by-step guide designed to answer your questions about this site, and how to get your project added. But first, let’s answer a couple of frequently asked questions:
What is Indie Comics Zone? This site is dedicated to helping get the word out about your comic book project. That means you can use Indie Comics Zone to promote something that is already published, or a Kickstarter (or similar crowdfunding product) project which is in the funding stage. We want to try to help you get noticed.
If you ask creators and vendors who are selling their books at a ComicCon, one of the hardest things to do is get attention, and get the word out about your project.
Once you sign up for a free listing, we’ll send out a note on our social media pointing back to that listing. Then we’ll add you to our ongoing list of promotional Tweets (on that site now known as X), so you’ll get free promotion on that platform all the time.
What is the Catch? As the old saying goes, “if something seems to good to be true, then it likely is…” So, we ask that in return for a free listing on our site and free promotion on our social media, that you follow us on our socials, and give us a similar boost every once in a while. This way we are helping each other.
For example, if you see a Tweet or post like this, then give us a retweet or repost (we are also on Threads and BlueSky). Those types of “how-to” posts are for everyone creating comics or Manga, and you won’t be promoting a competitor.
Also, when we tag you on social for promotion, retweet, repost, etc. It sounds really basic and logical, but people don’t think about it. When we tag you, do everything you can to share that post far and wide — we are helping each other.
And yes, we run ads. As this is a free service, we’re running ads on our site. That — maybe someday soon — will allow the site to break event. We are also bringing back our newsletter soon, which we had to switch providers. You can subscribe to the newsletter here — and if you sign up for a listing on our site, you’ll get the same newsletter as well. Please do not unsubscribe — as part of your registration agreement, you accept our occasional newsletter. Seems like a fair trade, right?
Why should I sign up? Besides those reasons above, it is probably good for your SEO (search engine optimization). That is, when your site is linked back to our site, Google and Bing think “hey this indie comic creator site is doin’ alright!”
Who knew that as a comic book creator, you’d have to consider how well your site performs on Google? It’s the 21st Century, my friends, and you can’t just sell your comics at the drug store like the old days. People are out there looking with their phones for the next cool story, and we give you one additional way to be found.
Please don’t … send us DMs asking us to support your campaign. We’re already giving you a platform and promoting you on social! Can that be enough? Ha ha ha!!
STEP ONE: Go to the Login / Register page and create a username and password. Submit your e-mail and phone number, and check the box to agree with our Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions.
STEP TWO: Fill out the following information on the application:
• LISTING NAME – This is the name of your comic book project. Please make it the name of your entire book, not just one issue. Meaning, rather than create a listing of “Silver Sun, Issue #1,” make it simply “Silver Sun.” This way you can come back later and add more information later. Google will already know about your first entry, and we will re-promote the updated listing. It’s. win-win.
• CATEGORY – We have a bunch of different comic styles here. Just select which genre you feel like your book should fall under.
• DESCRIPTION – This is super-important. Add here what you’d tell someone about your book if you had 3 minutes. Don’t just add a single sentence about your project. Is that all you have to say about this thing you’ve poured your soul into? Check out this listing for a good example… and check out this guide for writing a “logline” for a book. That is basically what you’re doing here. Also, please don’t add styled text to your Description. We need all the text to be “plain.” Here’s a free resource which can make your text “plain” before you paste it into the Description window.
