Description
1916 had been a bad year for both sides in the First World War. On Saturday, July 1st it became a sunlit picture of Hell as the Battle of the Somme begins. The first day of the conflict will become one of the bloodiest in the history of warfare and will contribute to the structure of a war that will define the shape of the 20th and 21st centuries.
